The Odessa College Band will close out the academic year with its Spring Concert on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the Wood Health Sciences Building Community Room 201 on the Odessa College campus. Admission is free and the public is invited.
Under the direction of OC Band director John Carroll and OC assistant band director Dr. Jonathan Ortiz, the evening will feature an entertaining program highlighted by the world premiere of “Sunup to Sundown,” a new composition written specifically for the Odessa College Band. The piece is dedicated to the spirit of Permian Basin roughnecks and celebrates the region’s rich oil industry heritage. Audience members can also look forward to interactive elements that make this premiere a truly memorable experience.
In addition to the featured premiere, the concert will include selections inspired by the warmth and drama of classic Italian culture, music sure to evoke thoughts of spaghetti, meatballs, and cinematic favorites such as The Godfather. Guests will also enjoy an uplifting and heroic march designed to inspire listeners to pursue their dreams with renewed determination.
“This concert is a celebration of our students, our community, and the stories that connect us,” said Carroll. “We invite everyone to come enjoy an evening of music, energy, and fun.”
The Odessa College Band Spring Concert is open to all community members and offers a wonderful opportunity to support student musicians while enjoying an evening of live performance.
