Paralegal Studies

The Paralegal Studies Program is designed to create competent and ethical paraprofessionals ready to enter the legal field.

Students who enter the Paralegal Studies program will learn how to prepare affidavits and other legal documents, prepare legal correspondence, and assist lawyers in preparing for trial and court hearings.

Students study a broad range of legal practice areas while researching and preparing legal documents. Through instruction and training, students are prepared to do work specifically delegated and supervised by attorneys. Students can earn a Level 1 or Level 2 certificate in Legal Studies or an Associate in Applied Science.

Upon completion of this program, students will be prepared to sit for the Certified Paralegal Exam and apply for entry-level positions as paralegals, paralegal specialists, and legal assistants. ONet Online lists these paralegal occupations as ‘Bright Outlook’ occupations and employment positions for these occupations are expected to grow rapidly in the next several years.
