Applicants may apply into the Odessa College RN to BSN program if they have up to 78 semester credit hours that include General Education courses and ADN (RN) courses.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at Odessa College is designed to lead the way in preparing nursing students for practice in a multicultural community within a diverse and changing health care environment; advance the practice of nursing; and provide quality, comprehensive health care in a competent, caring and compassionate manner.
It is a post-licensure program (RN to BSN) designed for the registered nurse with an associate degree in nursing (ADN) from a regionally accredited institution of higher education that is accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency or a diploma in nursing from an institution that is accredited by a national nursing accrediting agency who wishes to earn a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) degree.
RN to BSN courses will be offered online in a 12-month period. The entire didactic program curriculum will be online. However, the program will have two clinical courses that require onsite clinical attendance in health facilities located in the Permian Basin of Texas and simulations will take place in the simulation hospital in the new Wood Health & Sciences building.
The program student learning outcomes (PSLO) in the RN to BSN program: Students earning a bachelor of science in nursing degree will be able to:
- Leadership Excellence: Cultivate professionalism by demonstrating leadership qualities, fostering a commitment to ethical standards, and promoting a culture of excellence within healthcare organization.
- Compassionate Holistic Care: Prioritize and apply evidence-based compassionate care for individuals and communities, integrating leadership, and patient-family centered care approach in healthcare delivery.
- Technology and Data Ethics: Use healthcare information technology ethically, ensures safe practice, quality care and analyze patient data for improved health outcomes.
- Policy and Advocacy: Understand the impact of healthcare policy, advocacy, public health, and legal issues on healthcare delivery.
- Interprofessional Communication: Utilize effective communication skills to advocate for evidence-based holistic care within the healthcare team.
