In accordance with Texas Government Code Chapter 3002, Odessa College has designated all multi-occupancy restrooms and locker rooms for use based on biological sex. Single-occupancy and family restrooms are available throughout campus for anyone’s use.

A new state law now requires all public colleges in Texas to designate multi-occupancy restrooms and locker rooms for use based on biological sex. Odessa College is following these requirements and will update signage and policies to comply with the law. For additional details about the new state requirements, please click HERE.

What hasn’t changed is our commitment to you. OC remains dedicated to treating every student, employee and visitor with dignity, respect, and care. We know that comfort and privacy matter, and we will continue to ensure that you have choices that work for you.

To support all students, employees and visitors, single-occupancy and family restrooms are available across campus, and anyone may use these private spaces for any reason. If you have questions or need help locating a restroom or would like to talk with someone about available options, we are here to support you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Odessa College provides single-occupancy and family restrooms available for anyone’s use.

No. Single-occupancy restrooms remain available to all.

Yes. Children nine years old or younger may enter an opposite-sex restroom when accompanied by a caregiver.

Staff will redirect individuals to single-occupancy facilities as needed. Campus Police may assist if safety is involved.
