ENROLLMENT IS OPEN!
The need for qualified Patient Care Technicians in long-term care and acute care settings is growing at a tremendous rate. This program, which is NHA Accredited, will prepare students with the essential job skills needed to work as a NHA Patient Care Technician (CPCT/A) in a clinic, home health, hospice, assisted living facilities, or hospital setting. This is a certificate program that offers classroom instruction and related clinical practice in the basic nursing care of adults, children, infants and the elderly.
The philosophy of care for patients has changed from one of custodial care to an implementation of restorative, person centered care in which the patient is assisted to reach an optimal potential for physical, mental, and emotional well-being. This care can only be provided by knowledgeable and educated health care providers.
Patient Care Technicians are trained in basic blood collection. However, even though it is not a program requirement, it is strongly recommended that students complete a Phlebotomy course prior to enrollment.
This program is accredited by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Prior to program completion, students will create an NHA account. The examination fee, $165.00, is included in the tuition. The NHA Patient Care Technician (CPCT/A) exam may serve as a final exam.
This program is a total of 96 hours which consists of classroom, online, and a skills lab components; there is no clinical externship.
Course Prerequisite: Complio Account
Course Recommendation: Electronic Device with access to the Internet
A digital certificate of completion will be issued into Complio after the student attempts the AMT Patient Care Technician (PCT) exam. A physical certificate of completion may be picked up at the Continuing Education office.
